Hydrogen fuel cells have long been viewed as a potential replacement for traditional fossil fuels within the transportation industry. Additionally, this fuel and vehicles that use it are still relatively expensive compared to traditional cars and fossil fuels; companies would think twice when considering switching to hydrogen.

Despite these challenges, DOE reports note that there are still many ways that businesses can take advantage of hydrogen fuel cells. Organizations that operate a large fleet of vehicles, such as delivery or transportation services, may save money by going hydrogen. This is backed up by the energy department’s prediction that the price of hydrogen as fuel would be considerably reduced with broader commercial adoption. In addition, businesses can help increase hydrogen fuel cells adoption by investing in their infrastructure and supporting research and development in this area.
Hydrogen fuel cells have the potential to be a clean and efficient source of energy for the transportation industry. While challenges still need to be overcome, businesses can take steps to widen their usage.
