For the past six decades, Davos—the highest town in Europe—has hosted the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting. Leaders from around the world, including politicians, private sector leaders, and civil society representatives, gather here to discuss how to make the world a better place. Every January, they convene to address pressing global challenges such as climate change and the state of the global economy. These discussions often lead to actionable outcomes, whether it be policy shifts, new initiatives, or enhanced collaboration. As a result, Davos has become one of the most important gatherings globally.
DAVOS 2025: WHAT TO EXPECT
This year marks the 55th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, taking place from January 20 to January 24, under the theme “Collaboration for the Intelligent Age.” The event brings together stakeholders to discuss how to navigate the challenges posed by the convergence of technologies and the rise of HyperIntelligence—AI systems that exceed human cognitive abilities—as we enter the Intelligent Age. This era is being shaped by rapid advancements in technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and blockchain. The meeting will also focus on how these emerging technologies can be harnessed to address global challenges such as climate change and other crises.
FIVE THEMATIC PRIORITIES
Under the theme “Collaboration for the Intelligent Age,” there are five interconnected priorities for this year's event:
Rebuilding Trust: In today’s fast-paced world, the world is diverging rather than converging. How can stakeholders find new ways to collectively work on solutions both internationally and domestically?
Reimagining Growth: The digital economy already accounts for over 15.5% of global GDP and could form the basis for up to 70% of all the new value created in the global economy over the next decade. The question is, how can we identify the new sources of growth in this new global economy?
Investing in People: The rapid pace of technological change creates an urgent need for reskilling and retraining workers to meet the demands of the economy. How can the public and private sectors invest in human capital development and good jobs that contribute to the development of a modern and resilient society?
Safeguarding the Planet: Innovative partnerships and dialogue that enable investments along with clean technologies are the key to reaching net zero. How can we catalyze climate and nature action through innovative partnerships, increased financing, and the deployment of frontier technologies?
Industries in the Intelligent Age: Business strategies must adapt as technology becomes the key driver of change and disruption. How can business leaders strike a balance between the short-term goals and long-term imperatives in the transformation of their industries?
The 55th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos is set to be a significant point in how we approach the challenges of the Intelligent Age. Stay tuned as we bring you insights and updates from this critical event, ensuring that you are part of the conversation that will define tomorrow’s global economy.
